Green Assets
Rob is Lead Forest Carbon Analyst at Green Assets, a forest carbon project development firm headquartered in Wilmington, NC with offices in Beaufort, NC and Morgantown, WV. Green Assets mission is to design and implement carbon offset projects and conservation initiatives that meaningfully address today’s environmental challenges utilizing their experience as landowners, and expertise as land managers to strategically evaluate forest management strategies, network with industry professionals, and partner with landowners to foster sustainable income and conserve natural resources.
Prior to Green Assets, Rob’s professional background involved work in the commercial nursery, residential tree care, and oil & gas industries. He has experience in performing a wide range of ecological services, from water and soil sampling to endangered species surveys and habitat assessments. Rob has worked as a Vegetation Management Specialist on several stream and wetland mitigation projects throughout the Appalachian region, both public and private. He has overseen large scale reforestation projects on reclaimed mine sites and compensatory mitigation sites in Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. He has also overseen large timber stand improvement and silvicultural projects in the Allegheny, George Washington & Jefferson, Monongahela, and Wayne National Forests.
Rob is a SAF Certified Forester, a SWS Certified Professional Wetland Scientist, and board certified Registered Professional Forester in CT, WV, and several states throughout the Southeastern U.S. He is also an active member and volunteer with the American Chestnut Foundation and was named 2019 “Mr. Chestnut” by the WV chapter. Rob earned his B.S.F and M.S.F from West Virginia University and has lived in the mountain state for around 15 years. He maintains close ties to WVU and has served as guest lecturer in the Davis College of Agriculture and Natural Resources several times.
